Would it be wrong for a soldier to shoot a muslim/Islamic person with an inscription about Jesus on weapon?
The company wrote references to Bible verses about Jesus on rifles used by the U.S. Marines and Army. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation, which seeks to preserve separation of church and state, said the inscriptions are unconstitutional and harmful because it turns military conflicts into religious wars.
The inscriptions appear to come after the end of serial numbers inscribed on the sights. On one of them, it reads “JN8:12,” an apparent reference to the Book of John, Ch. 8, Verse 12, according to the ABC News report. The Wixom based company puts Christian sayings on sights for military weapons. Jesus guns some call it.
It might depend on the soldier, but just because they say the serial number represents Bible verses, it's still only letters and numbers at the end of a serial number, which is itself just letters and numbers. It's not like they etched a full Bible verse into the side of an ACOG. No one I know that's fired an ACOG has ever even noticed the alphanumerics, let alone knew what they stood for.
In fairness to the letter of the law if they're doing it to government orders they should stop because the US does have a separation of Church and State. If they want to add it to their private weapons sales, sure whatever. But government property should be religion-neutral.
I think this is the first question I've ever seen you post that didn't immediately cause me to roll my eyes at. Kudos.
