How would you greet the idea of building a museum of world religions in Washington, D.C. ?
Religious literacy in the US has fallen to nearly zilch.... People know very little about the content of their Bibles and Koran's and the religious tenents that they tout. The histories of the world's major religions are scattered randomly about and sometimes covered up, ignored by and unlearned by the the greatest portion of the public and even rewritten.
Would you favor an objectively unbias and honestly approached historic museum dedicated to telling the story of mankind's religious adventures ?
You may also wish to respond by suggesting which of our world's religions histories ought to be included.
Please understand that this question DOES NOT suggest the teaching of religion but only suggests the telling of religion's various histories.
Absolutely.....it would need to include ALL 19 major religions, however, and that could get costly and take a ton of time to research.....the point being, without Zoroastrianism we have no premise of Judiasm and Christianity....without Judiasm and Christianity we have no premise for Islam, etc.
It would need to include information about origins and about creation theories, etc......you would also have to include information about sub groups (270), etc......
ALL reasons why this building has not already been built.....but you are right in the statement that few people have any knowledge of religions outside of their own.....which makes it very difficult to understand things like why nation building doesn't work, why foreigners don't like us, etc.
