why must the bible be our final doctrine?
How important is Bible study in our lives today?
You are right, why should the bible be "final doctrine"? God has said many times he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Why should he suddenly change, and say, "Well, I've decided that even though I have always had prophets speaking to the people, I'm just going to stop here. Sorry, you guys are on your own..." God is loving to all His children, and continues to give us revelation. This is one of many reasons I am a Mormon. We believe that God continues to give revelations through His servant, the prophet. We also believe in the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ. This is the compiled revelations of God to the prophets who lived in the Americas, during the time of the Bible, starting with the departure of one prophet, Lehi, and his family. I believe studying the sacred scriptures God has given us is of the upmost importance. It both brings us closer to the Father, and helps us resist temptations in this world of sin.
