King James 1611 came from earlier english renderings and from the greek text written by Stephen, and were compared with all the writings by the editor of the project Andrew Lancelot.
the 1611 king james and the 1769 are at this site for free and it has the chronology to the english bibles also which explains it better than I can.

Noah Webster did a version of the king james and he wrote the dictionary and was very versed in the translations
