Constitution- slander and libel? Suing Bible Publisher...?
Where in the Constitution does it mention that slander and libel statements override the first amendment of free speech? Or has this just been made into effect by court cases?
Has anyone heard of the recent case where a gay man is going to be suing the Zondervan company for some of its Bible versions that uses the word "homosexual" in condemning passages (as opposed to the King James Version which lots of people interpret to mean that the Bible isn't against gays, for example).
What do you think of this case? Do you think that he can get away with suing them for "injurious causes?" Can he base them on libel?
I'm sorry, but it's seeming like this personal rights stuff overriding free speech is going too far...
This sounds suspect to me. Sounds like something one might find on one of those wacky far right christian sites.
By the way, King James was gay. That is why some of these religious wackos want use the King James version of the Bible.
Others use that fact to sell their versions of the Bible. Hey, religion is a money making industry.
