Bible! myth or fact?

Do you think some nut case aurther created the Bible as a myth and it has caught on and now you Bible bashers belive in god or did the auther write down the facts?

I am not Christian and do not follow the teachings of the bible. I find too may unanswered questions in it to believe it. For instance.. If God created Adam and Eve and they had Cain and Able, Where did Cain and able get wives?
I have not met a Christain that can explain this to me yet, they still believe the bible to be fact.

Tolkien: Man and Myth

Tolkien: Man and Myth

$14.95

J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings took first place in a nationwide British poll to find the greatest book of the century! He may be the most popular writer of our age, but Tolkien is often misunderstood. This major new study of his life, his character and his work reveals the facts and confronts the myths. It explores the background to the man and the culture in which he wrote. Tolkien: Man and Myth observes the relationships that the master writer had with his closest literary colleagues. It reveals his unique relationship with C.S. Lewis, the writer of the Narnia books, and the roots of their estrangement. In this original book about a leading literary life, Joseph Pearce enters the world created by Tolkien in the seven books published during his lifetime. He explores the significance of Middle Earth and what it represented in Tolkien's thinking. Myth, to him, was not a leap from reality but a leap into reality. "Pearce writes beautifully and with great depth, and the Tolkien who emerges is an impressive being - a man of literary strength and respectability." - The Tablet Joseph Pearce is a full-time writer living in Norfolk, England. He is the author of a recent major biography of G.K. Chester ton, Wisdom and Innocence . He writes for Catholic and literary journals, and is working on a study of 20th century literary converts to be published by Ignatius Press in the next year.

J.R.R. Tolkien: Myth, Morality, and Religion

J.R.R. Tolkien: Myth, Morality, and Religion

$15.95

Here is an in-depth look at the role myth, morality, and play in J.R.R. Tolkien's works such as The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion "including Tolkien's private letters and revealing opinions of his own work. Richard L. Purtill brilliantly argues that Tolkien's extraordinary ability to touch his readers' lives through his storytelling"so unlike much modern literature"accounts for his enormous literary success. This book demonstrates the moral depth in Tolkien's work and cuts through current subjectivism and cynicism about morality. A careful reader will find a subtle religious dimension to Tolkien's work"all the more potent because it is below the surface. Purtill reveals that Tolkien's fantasy stories creatively incorporate profound religious and ethical ideas. For example, Purtill shows us how hobbits reflect both the pettiness of parochial humanity and unexpected heroism. Purtill, author of 19 books, effectively addresses larger issues of the place of myth, the relation of and morality to literature, the relation of Tolkien's work to traditional mythology, and the lessons Tolkien's work teaches for our own lives. ???Richard Purtill is both a clear and commonsensical philosopher and an accomplished fantasy writer. Discovering him is like meeting Strider in the Inn at Bree: we have found a Ranger, a reliable guide through Middle-earth.??? "Peter Kreeft, Author, C. S. Lewis for the Third Millenium ' '
