In the book of 1 Samuel, ch.6:19 . . .?
It says that the 57,070 men die, no big deal the Bible says it, I believe it. But here's the problem, I use a Thomas Nelson Study Bible, KJV, and it says in the commentary that this # of 50,070 rests on "doubtful textual authority" Saying the Flavis Josephus says the actuall number is 70. What is your take? What do other commetaries say?
There seems to be some uncertainty about the Hebrew. The Artscroll Tanach offers 3 interpretations : 70 elders and 50,000 of the common people, Or 70 men each as worthy as 50,000, Or 50,000 each worthy of being one of the 70 elders. (Rashi)
