Do you think that Parts of The Matrix parallel The Bible?
So many references to it and also other beliefs like buddhism, taoism etc. What are your thoughts?
Okay well I guess you guys don't think so, aside from all the DIRECT references it has to the Bible! Zion, Trinity, The One, Nebuchadnezzar and the fact that Neo dies and was ressurected.
Plus all the indirect references such as The Oracle(John), The Architect (Satan), Smith (The Antichrist). I think the whole trilogy is a futuristic interpretation of the bible.
Of course. I just did a presentation on that today. The Christian references are blatant, but there is also a reference to the Holocaust. The shoes the Smiths wore were the same kind worn by the Nazis. And there is the ref. to Alice in Wonderland. Neo has to "follow the bunny" or whatever. Also, Alice is graffitied on a wall in a scene. These are not religious implications, just other tidbits.
As for the Wachowski brothers, it was brilliant of them to implement all the anagrams (Neo, One) and the "Judas kiss." We don't see all this too often in films nowadays, not to that extent.
