The fact that the bible shows their faults proves its validity. It stays honest. Of course a book "recited" by a man (Muhammad) is going to try and sway people to believe by showing how good the prophets or regular people were.
I agree-- the real people in the bible, with all their faults, rings truer, and makes the offer of redemption that much more powerful -- perfect people don't need it, but flawed people do.
