Bible Speaks Today

Where are all the burning bushes, voices from above, fiery missiles on cities today?

This is NOT a rhetorical question, but I'm simply asking if there has been something written about the apparent silence from God.

God is not 'silent', but if it's a 'sign' you want, you must have an open and willing Spirit. Watch TV, and you'll see men who work wonders! (David Blaine, Criss Angel), they can do things miraculous! Yet they are not of God, so why should God resort to cheap parlour tricks, you wouldn't believe them anyway. Read the book of John, and see what happened when Jesus performed miracles. The people didn't believe Him then! The Pharisees went out of their way to discredit Him and ultimately the prophecies were fulfilled and Christ was crucified. Check out Mark chapter 13, where Jesus discusses with His deciples the 'future', and the things which would occur before His return. Check also, that the time-line He gives is very vague. Verse 32 clearly states "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." Even Jesus doesn't know, how can man? Matthew 24 tells more of the 'signs' of Christ's coming. John 14: 15-26 Jesus speaks of 'the Comfortor' who will replace Jesus after the ascension. The Holy Ghost is the one who reveals the truths of God's word to the believers. The 'world' will not receive Him. If I show you a sign, but you do not have eyes to see it, what good will it do? God is not silent, the world simply will not hear Him.
