or is there ones I missed, or is the proper bible in another language?
Right according to whom? Each translation tells you as much about the translator, and their intentions, as it does the material itself. Who gets to 'write down' history?
Each bible fulfills a purpose, sometimes specific only to the person[s] interested in its publication. The oldest bible is actually a translation of the original first and second-person narrative accounts, filtered through the author's recollections and intentions. Does that make it 'authentic'? Unless the author (NT only) is Jesus, everything else is filtered through history and culture (which may or may not correspond to the original author's intent.)
Yet, even when they lie or disagree, each bible does reveal something larger that the small deviations can sometimes gloss over. Truth can begin in error and ignorance. Ffirst you know, or think you know, and then comes the process of knowing. The bible is a process of that knowing, not an end all, be all (and that lesson is also part of the process.)
