Inspirational literature and fiction books?

Well, inspirational lit. can be ambiguous, right?

Can inspirational literature or reading also refer to spiritual-based topics or subject matter, rather than just CHRISTIANITY?

I have a series that was supposed to be inspirational from the get-go, and now in recent months, I have fallen back into the SEEKER way of things and I have no intention of changing the series (ONCE AGAIN), just because I feel I have not enough proof of a Biblical God.
So can inspirational lit. be ambiguous?

In my series, btw, some of the characters are Unitarian-types or seeker-types while others are way rooted into their religions (Catholic, , etc) and one character; she is the most devout, God-obsessed, Jesus freak ever, lol. Of all the character that is...

So the series is a mix of different beliefs...

There are an abundance of incredibly inspirational books with spiritual themes or subject matter that I believe almost anyone could identify with, regardless of their religious beliefs, because they are about the human experience. So yes, inspirational literature can have religious ambiguity.

The series sounds really interesting!

Here are a few books that inspired me:
~ The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
~ An Autobiography: The Story of My Experiments with Truth by Mahatma Ghandi
~ Tuesdays With Morrie & The Five People You Meet in Heaven ~ Mitch Albom
~ The Kingdom of God Is Within You by Leo Tolstoy
~ The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
~ The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
~ Life Lessons by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
~ Prescription for Peace by Steve Goodier
~ The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
~ The Way of the Wizard by Deepak Chopra
~ Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig

Catholic Christianity

Catholic Christianity

For the first time in 400 years the Catholic Church has authorized an official universal catechism which instantly became an international best-seller, the Catechism of the Catholic Church . Using this official Catechism, the highly-regarded author and professor Peter Kreeft presents a complete compendium of all the major beliefs of Catholicism written in his readable and concise style. Since the Catechism of the Catholic Church was written for the express purpose of grounding and fostering catechisms based on it for local needs and ordinary readers, Kreeft does just that, offering a thorough summary of Catholic doctrine, morality, and worship in a popular format with less technical language. He presents a systematic, organic synthesis of the essential and fundamental Catholic teachings in the light of the Second Vatican Council and the whole of the Church's Tradition. This book is the most thorough, complete and popular catechetical summary of Catholic belief in print that is based on the universal Catechism. "In Catholic Christianity , Peter Kreeft has taken the core of the Catechism's teaching and has represented it in his pithy and winning style. The result is the best entree to the Catechism yet-and therefore the best entree to the Catholic faith." "Karl Keating Author, What Catholics Really Believe "Peter Kreeft's work is: 1) unfailingly brilliant 2) intellectually agile 3) astonishingly perspicacious 4) gloriously orthodox 5) Chestertonian-ly aphoristic. Buy and read this book, and be instructed and delighted." "Thomas Howard Author, On Being Catholic "As an apologist who speaks at many seminars and conferences across the country I am often asked what book I would recommend for an adult catechetics class. I always find myself recommending three our four books rather than one. No longer. This is the ONE book I've been looking for! Dr. Kreeft gives a summation of our Catholic Faith based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church that is filled with bite-sized morsels of truth and producing a veritable feast of faith!" "Tim Staples Radio Host and Apologist Peter Kreeft, Ph.D., a Professor of Philosophy at Boston College, is a regular contributor to several Catholic publications, and is the best-selling author of over 25 books including Prayer for Beginners, Back to Virtue, A Refutation of Moral Relativism, Heaven the Heart's Deepest Longing, and Fundamentals of the Faith . On Being Catholic

On Being Catholic

In his first full-length book since converting to Roman Catholicism over ten years ago, Thomas Howard presents his wonderful, refreshing insights on the "glad tidings" of the deeper meaning of Catholic piety, dogma, spirituality, vision and practice, rendered in his unique style of prose for which he is well-known. The book's chapters take the form of lay meditations on Catholic teaching and practice, opening up in practical and simple terms the richness at work in virtually every detail of Catholic prayer, piety, liturgy and experience. "Tom Howard has done it again. With gentle and compelling wisdom, he shows the Catholic faith for what it is, the grandeur of the biblical gospel and a reflection of the immensity of God's wisdom and grace. On Being Catholic is an apologetic and literary gem." "Scott Hahn, Ph.D. "Would it be brash to say that Thomas Howard is an American counterpart of C.S. Lewis? I think not. Thomas Howard's intelligent, literate and erudite approach to the experience of faith and all of the challenges that faith brings will be enlightening to anyone who takes the Gospel seriously." "Fr. Benedict Groeschel, C.F.R. "Written with the realistic intelligence of a living faith, this book is a refreshing and renewing document. A beautiful book of great relevance and lasting value . . . so truly Catholic it makes one rejoice greatly." " Most Rev. Christoph Sch...nborn "I heartily recommend this inspiring and insightful presentation on being Catholic, particularly as it centers on the Mass. Howard not only captures the substance of each stage in the Eucharistic liturgy, but ties it effectively to heavenly worship with words that sing of beauty in worship. The whole presentation of Catholic belief is set in a striking and inspiring contrast with the bleakness of contemporary culture." " Rev. Michael Scanlan, T.O.R. Thomas Howard , a Professor of English at St. John's Seminary in Brighton, Mass., is the author of numerous books on various Christian themes including Chance or the Dance? and Hallowed Be This House . Treasury of Catholic Wisdom

Treasury of Catholic Wisdom

$27.95

The Treasury of Catholic Wisdom is a Catholic library in miniature, a one-volume microcosm of what the Church's great minds have thought and said since the apostolic age. Indeed, in The Treasury of Catholic Wisdom , noted theologian Fr. John A. Hardon has compiled the works of thirty-three of the greatest Catholic thinkers and writers, representing every period of the Church's passage through time, from the beginnings of Christianity to the present day. Here are men and women, bishops and priests, religious and the laity "whose native talents were elevated by the supernatural light that God reserves for those who are most submissive to His will." Included in this extraordinary and fascinating anthology are the works of the early saints, such as Gregory, Basil, Augustine, John Chrysostom, Patrick, Bernard Francis, and Thomas Aquinas. Here, too, are the writings of the great reformers Ignatius, Catherine of Siena, and Teresa of Avila; the mystic John of the Cross; the practical wisdom of Francis de Sales, Louis de Montfort, and Peter Julian Eymard; and the modern-day reflections of Gerard Manley Hopkins, Francis Thompson, Therese of Lisieux, G.K. Chesterton, and Fulton J. Sheen. The Treasury of Catholic Wisdom is a comprehensive anthology of the outstanding Catholic literature from the first century to modern times. Mystics and martyrs, philosophers and theologians, poets and prose writers are quoted at length and in depth. They are truly representative of the spirit and substance of Catholicism in its paradox of phenomenal stability and versatility over the centuries. Fr. Hardon has selected those writings which are representative of the thought and philosophy of each contributor, and has carefully chosen excerpts which are not always the most familiar. Thus, his volume provides not only a fresh collection of the best of Catholic wisdom, but also a uniquely comprehensive work which offers enlightenment and faith for generations of readers. John A. Hardon, S.J. , holds a master's degree in philosophy from Loyola University and a doctorate in theology from the Gregorian University in Rome. He is the author of The Catholic Catechism and many other books. Fr. Hardon is also a founder of the Catholic Home Study Institute, a correspondence school which operates under pontifical approval.

"Don't read good books"read the best books," is what a nun taught Fr. Rawley Myers as a youth. Thus, he has gathered together in this very unique volume a reading for each day of the year from some of the greatest Catholic books and writers in Church history, many in this century. Myers taps into the rich treasury of outstanding Catholic literature, often neglected in today's busy world, and he provides a wonderful selection of thoughts and meditations that are both intellectually stimulating and spiritually rewarding.'' Drawing on the writings of thirty-four famous Catholic authors, this book ranges from the thoughts of Doctors of the Church like Saint Augustine, Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint Thomas Aquinas, to classic authors like Saint Francis de Sales, Thomas ' Kempis, and Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, to popular 20th century spiritual guides like Bishop Fulton Sheen, Thomas Merton and Romano Guardini and, finally, the writings of a group of famous modern converts like G. K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, Ronald Knox and John Henry Newman. They enlighten our minds, inflame our hearts and strengthen our souls with selections that are easily digestible and whet the appetite for more of the impressive heritage of Catholic theological and philosophical reflection. '' "Fr. Myers has done American Catholics a great service in making available to them this anthology of some of the finest thinkers in the history of the Church. The format is ideal for personal reading and meditation, group reflection, or even as a way of beginning a day in a Catholic high school or college." " Fr. Peter Stravinskas , Editor, The Catholic Answer '' "Fr. Myers has put together a book of selections from the best authors there are. Reflecting the dignity of the ancient Faith, this work challenges the mind again and again, and it speaks 'the spirit of Catholicism."' " Thomas Howard, Author, Chance or the Dance
