Catholic Large Print Bible
Will the printing press lead to the eventual death of Christianiaty/Judasim/Islam?
Or other religions that rely heavily on large collections of "god's word"?
Religions must constantly adapt and change in order to be relevant to the changes in society. This is easy when the teachings are passed down orally. But as soon as the text can be mass-produced and distributed, it loses that flexibility.
Look what the Gutenberg bible did. Printed in 1455. Before that people had to take the catholic priests word for it about what was in the bible. After that, people started learning to read and read it for themselves. Then the church was rocked by the protestant reformation in 1546, less than 100 years later.
Now that the word of god is recorded indelibly in paper ( and electronically too... ) will religion have a hard time adapting to the changing times and eventually die as it looks more and more ridiculous to modern societies?
