Spiritual Battles.?
Jesus Christ cast out demons, the disciples cast out demons in Jesus name after the ascension.
Today, we dont caste out demons so much. Yes Catholics seem to do an exorcism every decade or so... But why dont most Christians fight in the spiritual battles? There are demons today just as there were 2000 years ago. Do you believe in Spiritual Warfare? Why or Why Not?
Atheist need not answer. Im not interested in your rhetoric.
Tcbuzen, you said that you dont believe in Spiritual Warfare as I do? What exactly do you believe in?
Anyone watch the TV Series Supernatural? Basically these 2 guys run cross country chasing demons. Now Im not advocating chasing demons in this manner, but is along the lines in which Im talking about. Simply put that there is a spiritual world out there beside our physical world we have here. And that these evil demons do run rampant in our world.
Thor.... Ok, most aren't going to like this answer, but... if they are honest, it will because they sense "truth" but don't want to admit it.
....I would venture to say that at LEAST 70% of those whom say they are a Christian have never ventured far enough in their Belief or Faith to meet or be filled with the Holy Spirit... they are still feeding on the milk of the Word and have no idea HOW to engage in a Spiritual Battle for themselves much less anyone else.
But, I think it depends on where you are.... My Mother and I were just talking about how dry our particular towns seem to be compared to the town that we had lived in many years ago.
However, most all the Spirit Filled believers are leaving the churches... they are still strong and doing what they can for themselves and their families and wherever they can... But, they aren't shouting out what they are doing, they are just carrying on as the Lord leads them...so, it "seems" not much of that is happening, but, it is still carrying on, believe me.

The Courage to Be Catholic $15.95 Bestselling author George Weigel (Witness to Hope: A Biography of John Paul II) argues that the path to genuine Catholic reform does not lie in accommodating the truth to the spirit of the age, but in a renewed commitment to living the fullness of the Catholic faith. Weigel situates the current crisis of sexual abuse and episcopal malfeasance in the context of recent Catholic history. With unflinching honesty, he analyzes the Church's failure to embrace the great spiritual promise of Vatican II, resulting in the steady surrender to liberal culture. Weigel exposes the patterns of dissent entrenched in seminaries, among priests, and the bishops who failed their flocks. He then gives a solid agenda for true reform and holiness. |

Thus, he has gathered together in this very unique volume a reading for each day of the year from some of the greatest Catholic books and writers in Church history, many in this century. Myers taps into the rich treasury of outstanding Catholic literature, often neglected in today's busy world, and he provides a wonderful selection of thoughts and meditations that are both intellectually stimulating and spiritually rewarding.'' Drawing on the writings of thirty-four famous Catholic authors, this book ranges from the thoughts of Doctors of the Church like Saint Augustine, Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint Thomas Aquinas, to classic authors like Saint Francis de Sales, Thomas ' Kempis, and Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, to popular 20th century spiritual guides like Bishop Fulton Sheen, Thomas Merton and Romano Guardini and, finally, the writings of a group of famous modern converts like G. K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, Ronald Knox and John Henry Newman. They enlighten our minds, inflame our hearts and strengthen our souls with selections that are easily digestible and whet the appetite for more of the impressive heritage of Catholic theological and philosophical reflection. '' "Fr. Myers has done American Catholics a great service in making available to them this anthology of some of the finest thinkers in the history of the Church. The format is ideal for personal reading and meditation, group reflection, or even as a way of beginning a day in a Catholic high school or college." " Fr. Peter Stravinskas , Editor, The Catholic Answer '' "Fr. Myers has put together a book of selections from the best authors there are. Reflecting the dignity of the ancient Faith, this work challenges the mind again and again, and it speaks 'the spirit of Catholicism."' " Thomas Howard, Author, Chance or the Dance |

C.S. Lewis and the Catholic Church $14.95 'There are many Protestants and Catholics who have been deeply affected and spiritually changed by the writings of C.S. Lewis, including many converts to Catholicism who credit C.S. Lewis for playing a significant role in their conversion. But the ironic and perplexing fact is that Lewis himself, while ???Catholic??? in may aspects of his faith and devotion, never became a Roman Catholic. Many have wondered why. ' Joseph Pearce, highly regarded literary biographer and great admirer of Lewis, is the ideal writer to try to answer that question. The relationship of Lewis to the Roman Catholic Church is an important and intriguing topic of interest to both Catholics and Protestants. Pearce delves into all the issues, questions, and factors regarding this puzzling question. He gives a broad and detailed analysis of the historical, biographical, theological, and literary pieces of this puzzle. ' His findings set forth the objective shape of Lewis's theological and spiritual works in their relation to the Catholic Church. This well-written book brings new insights into a great Christian writer, and it should spark lively discussion among Lewis readers and bring about a better understanding of the spiritual beliefs of C.S. Lewis. ' ' ???Joseph Pearce has tackled the great Unasked Question and produced an answer with both muscle and heart. How good an answer? Daring, authoritative, discriminating; intellectually daunting and vastly suggestive. This book is a banquet of argument so provocative, important and inviting that the master himself would find it irresistible. What wouldn't I give to watch Lewis dig in!??? ' "James Como , Author, Branches to Heaven: The Geniuses of C.S. Lewis ' ' |
