Best Bible for my Grandmother?
I am looking at online shops, like lifeway.com for Bibles for my Grandmother. She is Catholic, but I am not making a big point about getting a catholic bible. I have one for her if she does want a Catholic Bible.
However, she is my grandma, and a mom, so a Grandmother or Devotional Bible (or even study) would be great. She is a good Catholic (prays to Mary and Saints, goes to Church every Sunday) but I want to get her a good Bible so she can actually read God's Word.
Any Womens/Grandmothers Bibles between $10- (at most) 30..
You do need to stick with a Catholic Bible if she's Catholic. We don't have quite the wide variety of thematic Bibles that the Protestants do, but there's a very good one called the "Catholic Women's Devotional Bible". The link for it on Amazon is below. Price for a new one is $18.47 so even with shipping that still comes in under $30. And as a Catholic grandmother myself, I can tell you she'd probably like it very much.
As for "Micheal's" statement attempting to perpetuate the myth that Catholics don't read (or aren't "allowed" to read) the Bible ... I'll definitely have to share that with the Wednesday night Bible study group at my parish church.
Added: If you think she needs a large-print Bible, those are just a tad pricier but not out of reach. Again referring to Amazon, the NAB large-print edition is the least expensive of the Catholic Bibles in large print. (Second link below.) Depending on her visual acuity, she might appreciate that more than a "women's" Bible of any kind!
