Chronological Bible
books of the Bible?
I am enjoying The Daily Bible in Chronological Order. This makes me wonder why the books of the Bible are in the order they are. I understand that a collection of Psalms is not broken up to insert them in the context in which they were written. But what about Job? I guess logic tells me why all the books of the prophets & the epistles are grouped together, but are they even in chronological order in their groupings?
Any thoughts?
Thanks thexfiles, but as I said, I do have a chronological Bible now.
Franz Karl, I guess I am lazy .... or getting too old for this.
I have used cross-referencing & charts some, but lately it's dizzying. Ya know what I mean? Even with the chronological Bible, I'll have to do a little homework to read the epistles along side the corresponding church history in Acts, cuz even chronologizing wouldn't solve that for me.
I was told by my minister father, that Job is actually the oldest time period, because it occurred before the chronologicaly events in Genesis were concluded. So, it seems like that book should be first, but due to the creation story, that would not make sense.
For those that are interested in studying the Bible chronologically, I just searched for this, and found this link
