Why do married couples show up at the singles fellowship events?
I attended a beach BBQ's tonight hosted by my church's singles fellowship and bible study. A married couple showed up with their child. That is not the only time that has happened. Last year several couples showed up for a 4th of July singles BBQ. The church flyer and emails were clear enough saying the BBQ tonight was for the singles fellowship. I felt it was offensive, disrespectful and in poor taste. Especially when they cuddled around the fire pit. They should attend the married couples fellowship or family events. Should I speak to my pastor about it?
This singles fellowship and bible study is for the 35+ age group. They were in their mid 20's.
We understand your dilemma, but there are seldom any fun social events for couples. The music and company at a single's fellowship caters to a younger, more outgoing crowd while that of the couple's fellowship is directed to the 60+ crowd.
Yes, you should speak to your Pastor about this. It seems to be a very sore spot for you, and you have the same right as anyone else to voice your opinion.
Couples who show up at a single's event should never "cuddle" or do anything else to point out that they are indeed a couple. They should just socialize with a large group and make sure no one else feels uneasy.
