Bible Interpretation : Devotionally & Historically
Sometimes we stumble over and really don't see the OBVIOUS. And then, what's obvious to one may not be to another. We've been given two physical eyes and one (third) spiritual eye. I've come to the conclusion that the two eyes are "ways of seeing". We SEE the Bible DEVOTIONALLY with one eye and HISTORICALLY with the other. And then we merge them with our third eye to complete the picture.
This message came to me in a dream or semi-awake dream one morning and amazingly I remembered enough to share it with you.
When I say that the Bible is SACRED to me I am in essence saying that I interpret it DEVOTIONALLY. I am ardent, affection, and a dedicated person when it comes to the Bible. But, I do not make the Bible an IDOL (Bibliolatry) believing it to be perfect, infallible, and inerrant. I also SEE and interpret the Bible HISTORICALLY meaning it was written at a specific time for a specific people though there are PRINCIPLES that transcend time and space.
The Bible in one sense is simply a love letter.
The underlying STORY of the Bible is that of a Father's love for a Son and the Son's love for the Father and yet to take that too literally causes all sorts of problems that we don't need. Jesus was devoted to the "Father" and yet he knew that God was SPIRIT (John 4:24) and not flesh and bones. When we look at the Bible only DEVOTIONALLY we can get get caught up in all manner of emotionalism. But, when we look at the Bible too HISTORICALLY we can lose the flavor, spirit, and meaning.
Enter the THIRD EYE: the fusing of the two natural eyes. 
The third eye (known as the inner eye) is a mystical and esoteric concept. It is also spoken of as the gate that leads within to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. The third eye is represented by the sixth chakra in Eastern religious lore. The third eye is often associated with visions and enhanced enlightenment: many are known as seers.
There are of course many other ways to interpret the Bible (progressively is a main one); however, balancing the personal with the impersonal (the Father image with Consciousness) is a constant juggling act that only the Spirit WITHIN each of us can achieve. How many balls are you juggling, or do you only have one horse in the race (metaphors galore).
