Is Pokemon Platinum Game worth putting the money down for the System, Game, and Strategy Guide?

Im to be getting my income taxes here soon and i want to know if
#1. the game is worth getting
#2, if its DS/Noob Friendly
#3, if the Strategy Guide does justice to the game, freaking things a bible.

The game itself is better than all of the rest.
If you have had past experiences with pokemon games, this will blow you.
The DS is pretty easy to handle, and yeah its easy, but challenging.

The guide is a lifesaver if you don't know what to do.
