Mormons/LDS: why does the LDS church not use modern day Bible translations based on the Dead Sea Scrolls?
According to the book, "Mormonism for Dummies", written by two active devout Mormons, they explain that Joseph Smith made "corrections" to the 1611 edition of the King James Bible and that this is the LDS church preferred version to use for Mormons. The authors admitted that they didn't know why the LDS church leaders don't use/approve of modern day translations of the Bible. Can you explain this to me?
The kind of explanation I'm looking for is something "official" from the LDS church. I don't remember seeing an explanation on the LDS website. In the late 19th century, the KJV was not the best English Bible around. By then, there were other English translations that had been printed which corrected KJV flaws. More modern day English Bibles have appeared in the 20th & 21st century. The Dead Sea Scrolls are not the only parchments/scrolls that have come up since the 19th century, but I did mention them as an example only.

The main thing you have to understand is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ - repentance, then be baptized, then recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost....and then He'll tell you the rest.
