Can we really find an english bible with direct translation from greek and hebrew?
If yes, pls give me the source which i can find
I've seen this question before about a "direct" translation of the bible. Reading the answers it is obvious that people have different ideas about what that means.
Perhaps the author of question could explain that in the additional details section and some of the us with knowledge about translations could provide a more helpful answer.
My definition of a "direct" translation would be direct from the source languages (Greek & Hebrew) to the receptor language (English). No intermediate languages.
Then, an example of an indirect translation would be the old Catholic Douay Rheims version. It is an English translation based on a Latin translation known as the Vulgate. The Vulgate was based on the original Greek and Hebrew.
Nearly all modern English translations qualify as direct, at least by my definition, as they are based on the original languages the scriptures were written in, Greek for the New Testament and Hebrew for the Old Testament.
If you are seek a translation that seeks to be transparent to the wording of the original languages, Evangelical and Conservative Protestant scholarship is solidly behind the NASB and the ESV.
An interlinear is a good reference tool for checking individual words, but it doesn't qualify as a translation because it does not follow English grammar and hence is unreadable.
