Leather Bible Cover

How can I clean an old leather bound bible?

I found among my grandmother's things an old white leather bound bible that I remember from my childhood. Other than being dirty it seems just fine, the pages are only a little yellowed.

1. Mix 1-1/2 oz of Neatsfoot Oil with 1 oz of lanolin. Mix thoroughly. You can make any amount you like. The recipe is 3 parts Neatsfoot oil to 1 part lanolin.

2. Dip your lint-free cotton cloth into the mixture and start in the middle of the front cover of the book and rub the mixture over all of the front cover and do the same for the spine and the back cover.

3. Wipe any excess mixture away and rub the mixture well into the leather. This will not only clean the leather safely, it will preserve it. You can make an old beat up leather book into a beautiful heirloom.
