Farhenheit 451?

Okay, I need to write a paper for my English class about a theme that I've discovered in the book, Farhenheit 451. I came up with the theme of the role of the Bible being put to the side, and entertaintment and the media taking over. Not many people look to that anymore as support and help and rules, they look to television and other material things to cover it all up. Is this a good theme? If any of you have information or articles that I can print out, that would be great too. And if this theme is too difficult, any other suggestions? I'm open :]

Personally I think it's a great theme but also a sophisticated one and a challenging one. You must be quite an individualistic thinker to even attempt this.
And certain teachers could be rubbed the wrong way--those of the Dawkins ilk, that is.
But remember the book isn't about any books specifically--if memory serves--but about the banning of all books including the Bible. But the book is certainly about the preservation of time-honored values.
One thing I'd want to know is what Bradbury's attitude was toward religion and specifically Judeo-Christian religion.
Usually science types and technical types aren't too sympathetic, so watch out.
I'd myself probably place the Bible in the Western tradition that includes both Christian and non-Christian literature. You might want to mention that even secular literature can have religious overtones. Think of Faulkner's "Absalom Absolom" (a Bible reference) as well as Hemingways' "For Whom the Bell Tolls," a reference to the Catholic John Donne.
