Question about Church?
Let's say you recently moved to an area. You were investigating for a church to attend. You see a bunch of churches with horribly mannicured lawns and garbage thrown everywhere. But when you entered the church, the preacher preached a message that made a lot of sense to you. It seemed like a loving enviornment. You keep investigating and you see a beautiful, spacious world dome of a church with plush red seats, a water fountain that shot out Hawaiian Punch, and they had hymals and Bibles with gold covers, not that bonded leather crap. But the preacher was Tyrone Biggums. And he bagan each service with 'Let he who is without sin throw the first rock, and I shall smoketh it'. Which church would you feel more comfortable joining?
There is an element missing to your story - at least for me...
Which Church did the Holy Spirit speak to me and tell me to join?
The run down church could have a lesson God wished me to learn - or a service He wished me to perform... maybe I was supposed to be the one who helped with the upkeep of the property, even... who knows.
Perhaps there was a person I was supposed to meet and be discipled by in the fancy Church - or someone I was supposed to disciple... perhaps the fancy Church partnered with other ministries in the city, and my experience with the poor-er Church may lead me to being a bridge to help direct support their way.
Comfortable? I'm not looking for a Lazyboy recliner with my Worship experience... I'm looking for where the Holy Spirit guides me and can use me.
