whats the difference in a NKJV bible and others?
I'll start off by first saying sorry to anyone that this could possible offend i'm just looking to start reading the bible and maybe find a relationship with God.
Ok - so i went to wal mart today to get a bible. and i just kind of grabbed one. when i got home i saw that it says 'New King James Version' Curious i looked it up on google and found that there are like a ton of different bibles and one site even said that the king james ones are fake and created by satan loving people or something like that. What is the difference and what one should i be getting?
My mom was catholic and thats how i was raised so i wanted one that went with her teachings. any help would be great.
I also wanted one with both the old and the new testaments.
so if the KJV is good then the NKJV is just newer right? does that make it better?
Ok i'm really so confused i feel ignorant and pretty dumb, what is the diffence in the one that i already have the the NIV?
KJV is close to the original translation and it has a poetic style. The NKJV is very readable and user-friendly - this is my opinion. NIV is also interesting to read.
Bible scholars take a lot of time to be faithful to the original text so there is no need to be afraid to have these versions on hand. The New American Bible, Catholic edition is also good.
If you are a seeker of God, it is nice to have these versions for purposes of amplification.
