I want a bible, but a specific kind...?
I am looking for a bible. I would like it to be a NRSV, or NASB. I want it to have decent sized print, and be written or heavy stock paper. Specifically, what I would like is almost a textbook style bible, something I can really get into, make notes, and have an easy time reading/studying. Everywhere I look I find old-school bibles with onionskin paper, or "Study bibles" with specific intentions, like teen's women's, men's, catholic, etc. I just want the plain old bible, without any one's spin on it. Suggestions? If anyone can link a website that sells what I'm looking for, that would be super!!!
Gcococ--- Not by a long shot. The most accurate translation of the Bible are the Codex Sinaiticus and the Codex Alexandricus... The KJV is an extremely bastardized version of the Bible, tinged with James' own opinions and the then-current political climate. But I appreciate your willingness to help!
I've used the ESV (English Standard Version) for about a year and a half and love it.
It's the most literal translation there is (more than the NASB) in English.
Not a lot of people use it, but some phrases match the NASB verbatim, so it's easy to follow others that use it.
Also, it's more recent, so the only ones you'll find are genuine leather in black or brown for about $30 at Barnes and Noble.
