Quest Bible Niv
help finding a good bible, please?
I'm a teenager and I'm looking to get a good bible to help me futher my studies and become a better Christian(yay me xD). I wanted this Quest bible that was an niv and answered a lot of questions for curious people, like myself, and helped you better understand the word. Then I heard someone say that they left verses out of the niv bibles and I don't want that. If that's in any way true, then what are some other good bibles that aren't niv I could understand? If it's not sure, are these Quest bibles any good?
I never ever heard that verses were left out of the NIV. No, NIV is a very good version and this person who said this is mixed up. there are some verses left out of the RSV---it's the last half of the last chapter in Mark they leave out. So, you can get pretty much any version, but don't get the JWs Bible (World international) either. Jerusalem Bible is the Catholic Bible and I personally don't recommend it. NIV is fine or NLT, the Message, God's Word, Good News for Modern Man, NASB, and many others. NAS has a lot of helps in it too. There are several versions in the Life Application Bible. God bless you as you move ahead in Christ!!!

The Quest for Shakespeare $21.95 Highly regarded and best-selling literary writer and teacher, Joseph Pearce presents a stimulating and vivid biography of the world's most revered writer that is sure to be controversial. Unabashedly provocative, with scholarship, insight and keen observation, Pearce strives to separate historical fact from fiction about the beloved Bard. ''Shakespeare is not only one of the greatest figures in human history, he is also one of the most controversial and one of the most elusive. He is famous and yet almost unknown. Who was he? What were his beliefs? Can we really understand his plays and his poetry if we don't know the man who wrote them? ''These are some of the questions that are asked and answered in this gripping and engaging study of the world's greatest ever poet. The Quest for Shakespeare claims that books about the Bard have got him totally wrong. They misread the man and misread the work. The true Shakespeare has eluded the grasp of the critics. Dealing with the facts of Shakespeare's life and times, Pearce's quest leads to the inescapable conclusion that Shakespeare was a believing Catholic living in very anti-Catholic times. ''Many of his friends and family were persecuted, and even executed, for their Catholic faith. And yet he seems to have avoided any notable persecution himself. How did he do this? How did he respond to the persecution of his friends and family? What did he say about the dreadful and intolerant times in which he found himself? The Quest for Shakespeare answers these questions in ways that will enlighten and astonish those who love Shakespeare's work, and that will shock and outrage many of his critics. This book is full of surprises for beginner and expert alike. '' Click here to see The Quest for Shakespeare website! ''???Joseph Pearce writes piercingly brilliant books. This'is one of them. Quest for Shakespeare $39.95 Who was William Shakespeare? What did he believe? How did his beliefs affect his writing? Based on his best-selling book of the same title, popular biographer Joseph Pearce pursues the answers to these questions with the tenacity and precision of a Sherlock Holmes. Cutting through misguided, unfounded, and often bizarre theories about the great Bard, he arrives at his answers using only historical fact and literary evidence. When all the pieces of the puzzle are put together, they reveal, with unmistakable clarity, a Catholic Shakespeare. |

The Church and the Human Quest for Truth $24.95 Do we need the Church? Does the Church, with her teaching, preaching, and sacramental life, get in the way of human happiness? What is the Church's relationship to Christ and to the grace of the holy Trinity? These are among the questions that Fr. Charles Morerod addresses in his richly pastoral and learned book. This book invites Christians to learn anew why the Church, the Body of Christ, is God's chosen mode of sharing Christ's life with us. '''"This excellent book shows that the Church is the place where God fulfils our human quest for truth and happiness. Fr. Morerod offers a solid exposition of what the Church really is, with a fresh sense of philosophical and ecumenical issues at stake. It is not just another book on ecclesiology, but a fundamental and limpid contribution to the understanding of human vocation to contemplating the Truth and living from it. I wish I had read this book when I began studying theology." '' " Gilles Emery , Professor of Dogmatic Theology, University of Fribourg '''"Fr. Morerod's The Church and the Human Quest for Truth is at once masterfully original and profoundly orthodox Catholic theology at its best. The author explains how the fundamental human desire for happiness finds its realization in salvation and what we mean when we say that this salvation cannot occur outside the Church. Written with beautiful lucidity and informed by a rigorous logic, this book ought to prove valuable for both beginner and expert alike. I cannot imagine a better treatment of a whole range of issues in ecclesiology. With this short treatise, Fr. Morerod has performed a great service to Catholic theology. '' "Kevin E. O'Reilly , Milltown Institute, Dublin, Ireland ''' Charles Morerod, O.P. , is Dean of Philosophy and Professor of Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome (Angelicum). He belongs to the Anglican Roman-Catholic International Commission for the Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. He is the Director of the French edition of Nova et Vetera and author of Ecumenism & Philosophy, Philosophical Questions for a Renewal of Dialogue. ' |
