Samuel Bible Study
Thoughts on Samuel 16:7 please...can you break it down for me?
I'm leading a Bible study and need to talk about this passage...can you help?

To clear any uncertainty, I'll post both verses:
1st Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
2nd Samuel 16:7 And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

The first one is about David's brother who was tall and beautiful but God rejected him as his heart was not inclined towards God as David's was. Of course, Samuel could not see this so God told him.
The second one is about Shimei of King Saul's house cursing King David whom he saw as a usurper whose own son had usurped him.
