Is there any proof of when noahs ark happened... In the bible?

How can I know for sure that it is in year 4990 BC. In my bible, the adventure bible NIV-zonderkidz, it clearly states "no one knows when the creation or the flood occurred. In genesis. So how do I know for sure when the flood was. Proof,explanation and sources are needed. Thank you in advance.

According to the ages given in the bible there has only been approx. 6,000 years since "creation" so there would not be a year 4990 BC. According to Genesis 7:11 the flood began on the 17 day of the second month. This would be Cheshvan 17, and not Iyar 17 as Camping supposes since the calendar changed in Exodus 12:2. In other words Noah entered the Ark in the fall rather than the spring.

It would be impossible to determine precisely what year the flood occurred but according to the Jewish calendar this is the year 5771 from "Creation". Noah was born approximately (from memory) 1000 years after Adam was created and was 600 at the time of the flood. This would place the flood around 1600 from Creation or 2400 BCE. (The "official" year of Noah's birth is 1056 from Creation).

There are some calendar issues I am aware of that would complicate a precise date. It is believed that the Jewish calendar could be between 200- 250 years off ( it could be closer to 6000 years from Creation).

EDIT: There are two different sources that give an account of the years since "Creation". The better known one is Bishop Usser, this is where the Christian sources get their dates. The lesser known one is a book called "Seder Olam" which predates Bishop Usser by a few hundred years, This is where the Jewish date of 5771 comes from. There is only a 200-250 year discrepancy between these sources that seems to have resulted due to some questionable records from the time of the Babylonian captivity.
